Privacy

This is a personal site. It is written and run by one person, Scott Pam, in Palm Desert, California. Here is everything it does with your information, in plain language.

What this site collects

Nothing you have to give it. There is no account to create, no newsletter to join, and no contact form. You can read every page without telling the site who you are.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. If Google Analytics is turned on, Google sets its analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are read. Ad personalization is switched off and addresses are anonymized. You can block it with Google's opt-out add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or with any content blocker. The only other cookie is my own login cookie when I sign in to write.

Page-view counts come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across sites.

Server records

Like every website, this one is delivered through servers that keep short-lived technical logs: the address your connection came from, the page you asked for, and the time. Those logs exist to keep the site running and to stop abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you and they are not sold or shared. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which keeps the same kind of technical records under its own privacy policy.

Embedded videos

Some articles include videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or Instagram. Those players do not load until you press play. Once you do, the video service can set its own cookies and see that you watched, under that service's privacy policy. If you never press play, nothing from those services loads.

Affiliate links

Some product reviews contain links to stores. If you buy something through one of those links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The store can tell that the visit came from this site. It does not tell me who you are.

Sharing

The share buttons under articles are plain links. They open Facebook, X, or your email app only when you click them, and nothing loads from those services beforehand.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone.

Changes

If any of this changes, this page changes with it, and the date below moves.
